For decades, people have equated the word Lincoln, in the automotive trade, with pure luxury. The Mark LT is a product of the Lincoln brand, which falls under the pickup truck luxury category of the American automaker known as Ford Motor Company. The Mark LT is a redesigned model of the well known Ford F-150 truck but with a more luxury oriented cabin. It first went on sale in January 2005 as a 2006 year model.

The Mark LT model is the result of Lincoln’s second attempt at producing a luxury style pickup truck. It succeeds the Lincoln Blackwood pick-up truck which failed in 2002,The Bold Luxury Look Of A Lincoln Pickup Articles most likely due to the fact that it was only offered in rear wheel drive mode. Despite Lincoln’s failure with the Blackwood luxury pick-up, the automaker was not giving up on this lucrative segment. Hence, the Mark LT is being produced at Ford’s Dearborn Michigan plant in conjunction with its Cuautitlan plant in Mexico.

What luxury features does the Mark LT behold?  Designing engineers utilized criticisms they got from consumer feedback and created a more stylish yet practical full size crew cab model than it’s predecessor, the Blackwood. This revised style was better able to stand up to the competition of the luxury pickup line, with its more spacious cab and a bolder exterior upscale look that Lincoln has the reputation for.

This Mark LT pick-up comes with features similar to those of the F-150 but with an optional all wheel drive. In fact, this model gets the same 300 horsepower 5.4 liter Triton V8 and it comes in four doors just like the F-150. The redesigned bed will be able to carry about 1620 pounds while the truck will tow a massive 8900 pounds. The new 2016 Lincoln Mark LT will still be offered in both 4×4 and 4×2 configurations.

Now we have the 2016 Lincoln Mark LT available in either a standard wheel base model with 5.5 foot bed, or a longer wheel base model with a 6.5 foot bed. Improvements have been made to smooth its power and ride qualities. The new 2016 Lincoln Mark LT differs from its F-150 cousin mainly in its styling. Standard features include leather upholstered seats, with contrasting colored piping, faux wood trim, key-less ignition, chrome trimmed gauges with Lincoln’s logo on them, Heated front seats and a superior MP3/CD audio system, however, it’s only offered in one trim level. The larger cabin interior can hold 5 passengers.

Behind its signature grille lies a 5.4 liter V8 engine, same as the Ford F-150, which produces 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. Its power is transmitted using the four wheel automatic, using either the two or the four wheel drive variants. This luxury pick-up cabin competes with models such as Escalade EXT, Toyota Tundra and Dodge Ram.

The question at large, in my mind at least would be, how many people will buy a truck with the same engine, made by the same company, with only a few luxury visual additions and a different logo yet with a whopping price tag instead?  Probably more than you would imagine. I guess that remains to be seen. That’s why there are choices in life. Leave me a comment at www.truckworldaccessories.
