Many schools nationwide are in the midst of a severe budget crunch. They are running low on funds and their levies are beginning to end. This is causing many schools to eliminate some programs and events in order to maintain a good education for the nation’s youth. Many of these eliminated programs have the ability to be saved with the use of fund raiser events at school.

Many local merchants may offer discounts or donate items to a school auction. Auctions have always been a good fund raising technique. Here, people simply bid on items that have been donated to the cause.

Gift cards are another popular fundraiser. Many local and nationwide companies offer specials on pre printed cards, offering free or discounted products for a specific length of time, usually one year. The children can go around to neighbors, friends and grandparents to sell these cards and raise money for their school.

Chocolate and candy are the most popular fund raising event at school. With these, the children simply go door to door with their parents or sell candy to people they already know. The candy is usually fairly inexpensive and this type of fundraiser is usually very effective.

The best fund raising events at school involve items which are given to the customer at the time they are being sold. Many people do not want to wait for their merchandise so when it is readily available to them, they are more likely to buy that item. Magazines are a good example of what the school does not want to sell. Customers frequently have to wait a month or two to receive their first copy and many people are leery of magazine sales as a scam.
