The HTC Desire Z Offers Enhanced Levels Of Features

Individuals who enjoy the usage of a physical QWERTY keyboard on a mobile device that does not feel as if it will break will find this device to be perfect.

Internal hardware for the device comes complete with a 5 megapixel camera, 800MHz Qualcomm processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 1.5 GB of ROM. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth capability, and GPS function come standard as well. It should be noted that even though the 800MHz processor is technically lower than the 1GHz devices in many competing handsets, the hardware is designed in a way that allows for extensive overclocking. This device can actually run at around 1.4 to 1.8 GHz. Most individuals who choose to overclock the processor will find that a 1.5 GHz speed is perfectly attainable on this device.

The OS, is the now standard Android 2.2 Froyo design. There are a few minor tweaks which prove to be quite a nice touch, however. The status tray will show a recently loaded list of used apps, for instance. 

Outside of the phenomenal construction quality, there is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This physical keyboard is not the flimsy plastic setup many other smartphones labour under. Just like the rest of the device it works well and does not feel cheaply constructed. The keyboard is attached to the back of the device with a z-hinge.

One truly outstanding feature of the device is its battery and battery setup. Using the device for a full work day of moderate usage allows it to work for around ten hours on a single charge. While the battery itself (1300mAH) has become fairly common, the design concept of the HTC Desire Z has not remained so. Most mobile devices currently require the entire back of the device to be removed to access the battery or a SIM card. This device returns to the old custom of a latched battery door. Should the owner pull the battery door latch the entire left side of the door will pop open allowing access to the battery, the SIM card, and the SD card (8GB factory installed). 

Overall this device is a powerful entry into the Android market place. There are devices with better specs on the market, but this small solidly constructed handset is definitely top shelf material. The HTC Desire Z is likely to be the absolute perfect phone for many types of user.
