CAT 2015: No Guidance Tutorial this year

With the changed examination pattern, candidates need a guidance tutorial. CAT 2015 doesn't allow one. Here's a detailed overview.

This year,CAT 2015: No Guidance Tutorial this year Articles CAT has brought with itself a lot of surprises. CAT 2015 examination pattern and the selection process of the IIMs have been altered. In the examination pattern itself, there are many changes and the candidate must be well aware of all of them. The time duration and the number of questions have been increased. Now, there are 100 questions altogether and the time duration is 180 minutes. Also, from this year onwards, the questions are both objective and subjective type.

Like last year, this year the 15- minute pre-exam guidance tutorial would not be available before the exam. But, candidates will be provided with the instructions to go through in those 15 minutes. The instructions will be about the new introduced navigational tools. As there were major changes in the pattern, candidates need to be well aware of them before taking the test. The presence of tutorial would have been a better option.

Candidates should practice more and more mock tests to familiarize themselves with the new pattern. Solving sample papers and analyzing them to form a strategy is the best way to prepare oneself thoroughly for the exam. Also, there are many sectional mocks and mocks covering a particular topic. These will help the aspirants to practice well. The main key to success in CAT is practicing.

This year there will be altogether 100 questions, which are both subjective and objective type. There will be three sections altogether- Quantitative Aptitude– 34 questions, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning – 32 questions, and Reading comprehension and verbal Ability- 34 questions. There is no negative marking for the subjective type questions while 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answers otherwise. In some questions, there is a presence of calculator, which can be used by the candidate.

The test is scheduled on 29 November, 2015 and admits cards are available from 15 October, 2015 onwards.
