The effect of the inexperienced translator

This article shouldn’t be written or disclosed as a professional translator or as an agency who deals in professional language translation. Because it degrades the image of a person who is inexperienced and if same person is associated with the job, but until one point out or make a validate complaint, the person who have make the mistakes, he or she may not be able to look back and correct the same. The simultaneous translation job is such that there are no re calls unless one does the recordings of proceedings of all language spoken. Otherwise there is no look back and correct as what have been communicated with others as a language translator.

Very recently I was handling the translation equipments or may call as it I was the technician for one of the conference of our one of US clients. We have been asked to supply the translation related such as headsets and receivers, transmitter’s and the interpreters desk console equipments.

I was shocked to hear the translation of  “we are the community workers and we believe in the in community services” the translation reply was “yes we believe” in the language of Indian native spoken language Marathi, I got shocked when I heard the shortcut sentence or you may call it the conclusion of the spoken paragraph to be translated to the audience. The conference was on the topic of DAIDS the researching organizations who conduct the survey and research with local authority agencies in every corner of the world.

The topic being very important, the translation was in appropriate and not understood by the audience who were listening the discussion. They were confused and couldn’t understand as they were getting only conclusion of the spoken topic.

Luckily the translators were hired by the clients themselves, as I was the responsible person for the services to be provided to the corporate organization. I was monitoring the facts and the fictions of the conference as how it is going. The Situation became became worst when the question and answerer session started. The audience started questioning in Marathi language to the conductor of the conference. As the process of simultaneous translation process the questions were also have to be translated from Marathi to English, the conductors of the seminar were also getting the questions in the same manner as it was going on since the conference started in the beginning. The conductor of the seminar who was responsible for the answers to the questions asked by the audience got confused, because of the questions were incomplete.

As an agency or the professional translator, we need to ensure that what ever we are communicating with the language, it has to match the accuracy of and perfection of as what we heard and, what are communicating with peoples. As we are the people who communicate and deal with different spoken languages of the world, it is our up most duty to deliver the correct translated information.

We being in the communication business have to have the optimum power of bright communication skills to deliver the right and correct translation on all the different spoken in the world.
