This is a article outlining the reasons why the Jersey Shore craze should come to an end. It goes into detail explaining my Jersey Shore is a horrible influence and why it's "stars" should be brought down from their level of celebrity because they have done nothing to deserve that status or the money they are receiving.
I’m saddened to say that Jersey Shore has become one of the most popular reality shows out there. The reason for this is something I can’t fathom. What I do know is that Jersey Shore is a horrendous waste of time and money, and makes America look like a nation with poor taste when this show is ranked so highly. But I’m not going to just sit here bashing this show without valid reasons; so here they are.
Jersey Shore is completely devoid of intelligence- The entire show depicts nothing but disgustingly overpaid morons doing what morons do best. Getting into fights for the most ridiculous reasons, drinking constantly, spending way too much time getting their fake tans on, and lets not forget their words of wisdom. For example when a cat fight, one of many, broke out and the Situation’s (what kind of stupid name is that anyway) was most concerned about moving the cheap coffee table out of the way. He didn’t care about the women who were fighting, why they were so upset, or even try and put a stop to it. No his only concern was about the coffee table. And the way he said it just made it seem even more ridiculous. The way these so-called stars talk makes them all sound like they have a IQ of 30 and no more. And yet people sit in front of their television sets watching these people get paid for doing absolutely nothing, which brings me to my second reason.
They get paid more for doing nothing than most hard working American’s get- This has to be one of the biggest issues. The Jersey Shore cast now gets paid 30,000 an episode for doing what? Being cheap sluts and men who think only with the brain in between their legs instead of the ones in their heads, its appalling. America is full of hard workers both intelligent men and women who put in 40+ hours a week and still struggle to make ends meet. Some of them only get 40,000 a year let alone an episode. It is complete lunacy. And for the kids who watch and love this show its sending them a very clear message. If you spend your whole life partying, getting drunk, having sex, and being a complete imbecile then you will get paid more for that than being a good, honest person. Its telling the new generation it’s okay to throw your life away and have no respect for yourself. The cast may be making good money but do you think that anyone actually respects them? Of course not. They have done nothing to be respected for.
They are horrible role models- I covered some of this in my last reason but I would like to expand on it. I have seen young kids 13 years old, some in their slightly older teens walking through Target and seeing the latest season of Jersey Shore for sale. And you know what they say when they see it? Mommy/Daddy I love this show, can I please get it. These children are paying attention to this show, they enjoy it, and they are at that stage in their life where they are easily influenced. And when they spend their days watching these “stars” and their horrible habits they are getting influenced and are thinking that acting that way is cool; it isn’t. The next generation are the ones that hold the future of this country in their hands and I don’t want them growing up thinking Jersey Shore is cool and I’m sure you don’t either.
I have noticed that reality television is losing some of it’s momentum, I see more and more comments online about how reality television is a waste of time and it is. But apparently the networks disagree because they keep making more and more reality shows. I personally think Jersey Shore is the worst but the Bachelor, the Bachelorette, are other perfect examples of bad reality television that sends the wrong message. To be honest, the reality tv craze makes me sick. It makes me sick to think that instead of coming home and watching an intelligent, well done show, with heart like “House” people are choosing to watch these shows that I swear are deteriorating their brain cells. It is just lunacy, there is no other way to describe it. These Jersey Shore “Stars”, should have to get a job, get a brain and make money the old fashioned way. I’m tired of hearing about the Situation getting pulled over on the news, or that Snookie got a new man jug (whatever the hell she calls her new boyfriends). They are all fake, brainless, and a waste of everyone’s time. The news should be reserved for the important issues not this crap. I know I’m not the only one that feels like this, but I think together we need to put an end to the reign of reality tv and bring back good quality television.
