Klaverjassen is one of the most popular card games in Netherlands. Its origin goes back to 1890–95 and starts off the Dutch word klaverjas. This game is often played at home, in clubs and in bars.

Are Trumps Used?

It really depends on the variety of the game and on its players. Most often people use trumps by simply choosing it, when a person at the left of the dealer randomly names a card. However, there are a lot of other ways to choose trumps. For example, if there is a second pack of cards, players shuffle it, and turn over the first card to determine trumps.

Klaverjassen is a very simple and entertaining card game, which is easy to manage, quick to play and rapid to become a professional player. Perhaps, these facts keep klaverjassen so popular and beloved by Dutch.
