Marisa Tomei has been one of the most under-rated actresses in Hollywood. May be it's better to say that she is the most under used actress in Hollywood. It's incredible that with very few good roles on offer she managed an Oscar award for herself. Tomei, an Italian by descent was born in Brooklyn. Marisa Tomei was attracted to Theater from a very young age and dropped out of university to become an actress. Another celebrated performance of Marisa was in the movie "Welcome to Sarajevo" where she played Nina, an American aid worker.Marisa Tomei has to be satisfied with playing supporting roles recently. Her role in the comedy "Wild Hogs" was a pretty short one. She did well as a supporting actress in the 2002 comedy "The Guru". In the movie "What Women Want" she gave a very commanding but short performance as Lola. Marisa Tomei has been lately involved in the anti-war movement against war in Iraq. She is one rare example of a star aware of her social responsibility.
