How to Set Up a 3-Flavor Margarita Bar

  • Make the Base Recipe:


    • 3 parts Tequila

    • 2 parts Triple Sec

    • 1 part fresh lime juice

    Just follow the ratio above (3-2-1) to make any quantity desired; a single drink or an entire pitcher full.




  • Make the Simple Syrup:


    • 1 part water

    • 1 part sugar

  • Prepare Flavored Purees by combining different ingredients with the Simple Syrup. Here are some options:


    • Strawberry--2 cups Simple Syrup with 2 cups hulled strawberries.

    • Pineapple-Jalapeno--2 cups Simple Syrup with 2 cups chopped fresh or canned pineapple and 1/2 fresh seeded jalapeno

    • Peach--2 cups Simple Syrup with 2 cups canned or fresh peaches

    Put each flavor in a separate pitcher and keep the pitchers in a drink tub filled with ice.




  • Create A Garnish Tray--Garnishes make the drink so don't forget this part! At a minimum, offer fresh fruit garnishes including limes, lemons and oranges. Then to make is special, add garnishes to match the flavors you have chosen (strawberries, peaches...).


  • Create Flavored Salt--In a food processor pulse together citrus zest and kosher salt (one flavor at a time). Good choices are lime zest, lemon zest and orange zest.


  • Set up the Margarita Bar--In addition to the pitchers of flavored purees, the flavored salts and the garnish tray, set out an ice bucket and margarita glasses.


  • Make the Best Margarita Ever!--For each margarita:


    • Rim the Glass--Dip glass in Simple Syrup then flavored salt of your choice (ex. if making a Strawberry Margarita, maybe you want lemon salt).
    • Fill glass with ice
    • Add Base Margarita Mix until glass is 3/4 full
    • Add Flavored Puree of choice to top off glasss
    • Stir and enjoy!


    You can easily make Frozen Margaritas by combining ingredients in a blender and then pouring into your rimmed glasses.
