For effective reduction of fine lines and wrinkles above the eyes and around the forehead there are not many options. Worry lines and drooping eyelids are caused after years of repeated wrinkling and sagging. There are many types of creams and lotions that tout their ability to restore lost elasticity and improve appearance,Browlift Choices for Stunning Results Articles but they rarely do more than simply hydrating the skin and perhaps minimizing the depth of creases. Fortunately, there are a number of surgical options for repairing damage and the effects of aging. There are in fact two different operations, each called a browlift, which are used to great effect in improving the look of the face. It is a matter of discussing with your personal plastic surgeon which option is best for your needs and for your budget.

One type of browlift involves making several small incisions along the hairline. These four to six slits are used to allow access for the doctor to perform endoscopic work on the structures underlying the skin. This procedure eliminates the need for one long incision and thus minimizes scarring. This reduced scarring is important when dealing with a cosmetic procedure because aging flesh naturally heals more slowly and less smoothly. It is therefore important to find a way of performing the surgery that will provide the necessary improvements without adding additional potentially unattractive after effects. In this type of operation the skin is not removed but rather shifted and tightened along the skull.

Another way of having a browlift is to have an incision that begins at one ear and reaches up along the hairline, or sometimes just behind it, over to the other ear. Usually a strip of skin is removed to smooth out imperfections before it is sutured back to the original margin. This is one of the more common procedures and has the most stunning effects. As an added benefit, the results of this style of work often last significantly longer than the others. Unfortunately, with such large cuts there is much more swelling and bruising and a considerable amount more healing that must happen afterwards. Also, for people with receding hairlines or those with thinning hair it is far more difficult to hide the scar, which contradicts the aesthetic aims of having this done.

Both of these methods for browlift surgery are equally well regarded in the medical community. That is why it is critical that you discuss with your health care provider your desire to have a cosmetic procedure. They will be able to refer you to a plastic surgeon with whom you can discuss the best choice for treating your forehead wrinkles. The decision will come down to not only the specific treatment needs of you as a patient but also to what is best suited to your body type. For older more delicate skin it may be better to go in endoscopically. Those with a relatively thick head of hair will benefit from having a more invasive but effective and lasting operation.
