Home elevators are installed in more residents than you might think. And these are not as lavishness but often as a practice and money saving design feature. Most of the American family residents have all of the bedrooms on the second level. With fifteen and more steps between the first and second floors of the house, the stairway becomes very tough and dangerous obstruction for elderly and handicapped persons. It is a big reason why empty nesters move to one story resident. 
A one story home is more expensive and costly to build, it can have nearly twice foundation and roof place of a comparable two level resident without any extra space, adding hugely to the cost of the home. Most families in the United States of America build two story residents when they are young and move to one story resident later in life. It is very less expensive to build a two story home than a single story, the difference between a two stories and single story enough to offset the price of home elevators

Residential elevators is operated either by a hydraulic piston or pulley and electric motor. Most of the home elevators are cable and pulley type and these are very noiseless, safe and easy to operate. There is no machine room in the home elevators. All the components and tools are contained within the elevator shaft. 
A standard home elevator cab is about 4’ by 5’, and it is big enough to accommodate two adults and two kids. You can transfer luggage, grocery items and laundry items from one floor to another through this elevator.
