Check if your OST (offline folder) file is in sync with Microsoft exchange server or not by using these steps:

  • Open Outlook
  • Make sure that you have right clicked on any folder, be it the Inbox, drafts or sent items.
  • Select Properties
  • Click on the synchronization tab to check the statistics of the folder.
  • Now check the details like:
  1. Last synchronized data (it should be of the latest day)
  2. The number of items Server folder contains
  3. The number of items offline folder contains.

Profile settings

If the number of items in server folder and offline folder differs, verify your profile settings by these steps:

  • Select account settings and click on data files.
  • Check if mailbox- account name is set to default or not. If it’s not, set it to default. After completion click on Email tab Mailbox- account name and change.
  • Make sure the Use cached exchange mode is selected and click Ok.
  • Exit the account settings and reopen the outlook to check for the changes.

Re-synchronize Outlook folders

Try re-synchronizing your outlook folders. To do this:

  • Click on Tools tab and select options.
  • Then in the dialog box, select mail setup tab and check send immediately when connected box.
  • Click on send/ receive tab, a pop –up window will appear. In that window just verify Perform an automatic send/receiving when existing is selected.
  • Close and exit.

Empty sync issues/ local failures folder:

  • Go to folder list icon on left-hand corner of your outlook window.
  • Click on All outlook items tab; you will be able to see all the folders.
  • Select sync issues folder and empty by selecting all the messages and deleting them completely from the system.
  • Exit and reopen the outlook to check if the issue is resolved.

Fixing OST file
