The old man climbs to the top of the highest mountain overlooking the enemy encampment. As he gazes down on them, he raises his staff and with it his power. Intense focus in his eyes, the staff is pointed at the sky. A few moments later dark foreboding clouds roll in, roiling with power and menace. In a flash, lightning suddenly fills the night, a whirlwind spins through the camp below, followed by a torrent of rain and mighty winds.

Now,Weather Control Articles honestly, when you read the title of this, how many of you were thinking of something along those lines?

Weather control can be used for combat, which will be addressed in this article, but it can also be used to soften, at times stop totally, natural disasters. It can also be used to gain water for crops and to fight forest fires, before they destroy the entire forest. A gentle breeze can be called to cool a hot summers day and stilled in the winter to leave you with a bit of body heat.

The weather is an active system and therefore is fairly easily manipulated on a psychic level. Just because a thing can be done easily, does not mean it should be done though. It is important to use great care when working with the environment, because what happens in one place can, and will, effect other places. Plus, in a very complicated system, it is difficult at best, to track all of the possible results of a given action.

The actual techniques used in weather control are simple.

Properly center yourself and focus.

Hold the idea of what weather effect you wish to happen. Make sure to hold it long enough that the field will have a chance to create the conditions you wish.

That’s all that you really need to begin.

The trick is in how you do it and what you try to do. For instance, many of you will be familiar with the idea of a self-propagating field, a field that continues to grow in strength and size under the power of its own organization, which could lead to disaster when working with the weather!

It is best to use less force and take more time, rather than forcing sudden drastic changes in climate or local environment. It cuts down on negative side effects.

What we are left with then are some guidelines for the safe influencing of the weather.

Plan out your weather working so that slow changes will happen in the system as far in advance as possible. If you can foresee the coming of a drought four or five months before it is a major problem, you can begin to gently nudge the climate towards a bit of moisture during the driest season.
Keep the effects as small and un-dramatic as possible. Don’t call forth a mighty rainstorm when a gentle mist will do. Avoid the creation of storms when you can, as they disrupt the over all pattern far more than is advisable.
Pay attention to similar patterns. If it rains in one place this week, is it always dry in another location? What does it mean when the wind blows from the east? Rain? Dry conditions? Will rain in the summer mean a thunder storm in a given location? You must take pains to know these types of things before you begin to meddle.
Avoid using the weather as a weapon! Yes it can have a dramatic effect on troops, especially in moral. Modern troops though will only be slowed by the most intense weather conditions. The ones most devastated by the attack will be the civilians, who lose homes and infrastructure due to your efforts. It is not just unethical, it can turn them against you, and your side in an issue, if they find out you are controlling the weather.

It can be a temptation to call forth great changes in the weather to “prove your power” to skeptics and those that doubt your abilities, as well as to impress friends, but the odds of changing the mind of a skeptic with proof are small. You may impress your friends with your dramatic displays of power, but at what cost? Is looking cool or interesting really worth the possible harm that could be done?

Gentle, careful weather control can be used to prevent massive disasters and smooth out portions of the overall climate as we move into a time of great uncertainty. I do not think it unconscionable to effect the weather, I simply ask for care and discipline in the task.
