On a train,Life Is a One Way Ticket Articles whenever I have free time, I like to sit there quietly watching the scenery through the window. The sceneries give me all kinds of feelings. Sometimes I would get inspirations from these sceneries, sometimes I would feel emotions I usually don’t experience, and sometimes I would just feel peace. To me, I think any of these feelings are better than the negative feelings of fighting with someone.

Sitting there alone, I can feel the existence of time clearly. The sound of the clock reminds me that life is just like the train – running forward all the time. Time slowly passes away little by little and I grow older as every moment passes by. The sceneries outside of the window comes and goes – it’s like I can see time passing by in physical form.

When we face the direction the train is moving toward, sceneries come by slowly. When we face the direction the train is moving against, sceneries pass by quickly – so fast that sometimes we cannot even see things clearly. We can use this metaphor to describe the future and the past. When we face the direction the train moves forward, it’s like we are looking at our dreams and goals. They come to us slowly. When we face the other direction, we’re looking at our memories. They fade away quickly that sometimes we cannot even remember them.

Life is just like a one way train. Life is not supposed to be working busy trying to achieve a goal without taking a break. Nor is life supposed to be looking backward attaching to your memories without taking action to move forward. Life is supposed to be lived fully in the present moment. You want to be able to look at both directions – the past and the future together. You want to be in the center so you can see everything clearly.

Some people try to achieve their goals by working so hard that they forget to slow down to enjoy the scenery. While other people only look backward trying to catch all the fleeing memories that they cannot hold onto. That is why it is important to be in the center seeing both directions clearly and being aware that time is passing by every single moment. You want to enjoy the scenery of the past, future, and the now.
