Kilts are one of the most famous Scottish items. Thanks to them Scotland became famous too. What's important kilt isn't typical male cloth, it can also be worn by women.
Kilts have gained people's love many centuries ago but since a few years now they are also very popular amongst celebrities.
One of the most famous fan of kilts is Sean Connery, fabulous and famous person, talented actor, loved by thousands of women. James Bond role gave him an opinion of one of the most handsome men in the world. This Scottish actor and producer has also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Untouchables". And all these years kilt was his best friend!
But not only Sean Connery is the famous Scot who wears kilt in Hollywood. We have here also James McAvoy, Ewan McGregor or Gerald Butler. Kyle McLachlan, well-known from "Twin Peaks", even gave his support in Dressed to Kilt Charity Fashion Show that was organised to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. As it comes to girls we can name here Victoria Beckham or Paris Hilton.
Many people also connect kilt with Mel Gibson, who starred in "Braveheart". He played a role in the movie and was wearing t as William Wallace but his acting made this cloth even more important to people and also worn more often at the streets. It was very important step for the history of kilt - it is not typical outfit and without appropriate matching and attitude it can make a terrible impression, that's why it is not so popular.
Of course there are always doubts amongst men, what to wear under the kilt and questions like 'is it OK for me to wear a skirt" still happens. The answer is of course "yes", because kilt isn't a skirt. The truth like this can be heard from many 100 percent real men whose passion are Scottish Highlands and Scottish tradition.
Most men also say that kilt is very comfortable and warm piece of cloth and there is no worry that tights would be needed. Also a real Scot usually doesn't have underwear underneath his kilt. Did David Hasselhoff wear anything when he lifted his kilt in front of people before the audition to Scottish edition of "British Got Talent"? Who knows...
