Culture is the sum wealth of material and spirit created during the whole process of social development. She contains deep mental sedimentary deposites that a people form for a long time. When talking about the difference about ideas and behaviors, you should get essence through appearance, actually it is the difference of two cultures. Due to the difference of two cultures, there will be some difference in thinking method, then the difference between behavior method and social relations. Like two different descending axis, there will grow up two big trees. No matter what aspect, there are some big differences between China and America, on order to understand those differences, you should understand the difference about culture, which mainly represent on several characters.

1.       Ancient Chinese culture and modern American culture

Chinese culture has a long history of thousands of years, which is the endless wealth from the ancient time. Like tourist interests, culture will have more values if there is a longer time. While she also like a big tree, deep-rooted and flouring, as well as some dead twigs and withered leaves. The wise has left wonderful historical treasures, and some heavy historical burdens. The social relations in China also like the big tree, if the tree is older, there will be more relations. The traditional culture is the theoretical principle for the formation of thinking method and behavior method, which produces irresistible influence on social relations in China.

America only has a history of 200 years, which is a palace of modern culture established by the will and thinking method of modern people. There is either enough historical treasure in American history, or heavy historical burden to bear. Americas create science and wealth according to the needs of modern people, as well as establishing social system. Social relations also establish according to the standard of modern people, a typical symbol for advanced commercial culture and scientific technology.

2.       Nationality of Chinese culture and diversification of American culture

There are 56 peoples, similar in skin and race, thus China can be regarded as a nation of one race and one culture. While America is just a nation of immigrates, talents from all countries will get together here, different cultures enhancing their beauties here, forming a melting pot of different peoples and different cultures. Thus American culture owns the character of diversification, with strong times flavour, changing with the changes of times.

3.       The political Chinese culture and economical American culture

China is a united country with a history of over 200 years, in order to control such a big country, there should be a highly centralized system. While American is a country with advance economy, there is a strong economical efficiency in the culture, taking a high position with science, technology and economical management.

4. There is some difference lying at the main culture and subculture between China & America

In China, we will find that there is a serious idea of individualism, lacking unities. While in America a lot of people will stay together for one topic. In one society there is the main culture publicized by governing class and subculture among the locals. Thus we know that in order to learn about the culture of one country, not only do you have to learn something from books, but also you would better to live in the country for a long time, to indeed learn about the subculture in the country.

There is something common about human natural character, such as individualism, which has been recognized in America, while it has been criticized in China. No matter how you deny this, the idea has been buried under people’s hearts, like love, no matter how great efforts you have made to forbid it, you cannot get rid of love buried in people’s heart totally.
