UFC 134: All 3 Brazilians with knockout victories
Anderson Silva took revenge on Yushin Okami beating the Japanese with a second round knockout win at the main event of UFC 134 which was held in Rio de Janeiro, the hometown of Silva, who was one of the 3 Brazilians whom competed at the event. The other two, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (won his fight to Brendan Schaub) and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (won his fight to Forrest Griffin) also managed to beat their contenders by knockout. Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion company, was really pleased with how UFC 134 turned out, as it was a sold-out, and on White’s words, “one of the loudest UFC events I’ve witnessed”.

Sharapova with good chances for winning US Open
The Williams sisters are not going through their best of times, with Serena as a 28th seed, and Venus, who is unseeded and hasn’t shown too much this year, and with the news of Kim Clijsters retiring from the US Open due to recent stomach muscle injury, it seems like the perfect moment for Maria Sharapova to win her fourth majors title, as the veteran has been playing her best tennis since 2008, when she got a serious shoulder injury that prevented her from competing at the level she was used to.

Saints defeat Raiders by 40-20
With a 40-20 victory from the Saints over the Raiders, it is clear that Drew Brees and the New Orleans franchise are marching with the wind blowing their way, as they have won 2 of their 3 preseason games very convincingly thanks to the talents of Brees and his main weapons in Deveran Henderson and rookie Mark Ingram. In despite of losing, Oakland didn’t look bad, with Jason Campbell performing quite well and with new team member (signed during training camp) Derek Hagan putting up a good show, though their efforts were not enough in front of a team that is one of the favorites to make it to the Super Bowl.

Apart from Acclamation, no other horse has won 3 grade I races this year, and that puts the horse in the number one spot to win the Eclipse Award for best horse of the year. The last victory for the 5-year old came on Sunday when he managed to beat other favorites in Twirling Candy and Game On Dude, winning the $1 million purse from the Pacific Classic at Del Mar, one of the top competitions for older horses.
