Yesterday morning,The story of the marathon girl Articles more than 160 citizens went to the Coastal Road hand in hand to donate for Zheng Ping-Xiamen marathon girl and those person are all fond of jogging. It is understood that after knowing the news of zheng ping's illness, a lot of runners everywhere around the country sympathize her who is poor but loves the marathon so much. Yesterday, there are around one thousand runners hold a running money-raising activity for Zheng Ping in eight cities including Dalian.
On 9 am yesterday morning, the reporter saw in Fu Jia Zhuang that several people have already started to sell goods for charity and donate for Zheng Ping. Yu Lei is the person who holds this donation activity as well as sells his commemorative medal of cross-country running game for charity. Yu Lei told the reporter that he was so moved that he made up his mind to help Zheng Ping when he knew the story of her by computer and from runners in Xiamen around ten days ago.
According to what Yu Lei said, aged 22, Zheng Ping comes from a remote countryside in Zunyi City, Guizhou Province. She worked in Xiamen alone from her sixteen years old in order to help her parents to take care of her younger sisters and brothers. Zheng Ping joins Xiamen part-time running team after work and she finishes 42.195 km marathon in three hours and 30 minutes which will make her rank in the top 100 among all of the female athletes in China. In others mind, Zheng Ping is tall, kind, passionate, helpful and easy-going. In the end of last year, Zheng Ping's legs were swelling and painful as well as her throat. Because of low income, she always insists in working. She went to the hospital to do a thorough examination for the first time being helped by Xiamen runners in the early April this year, however, she was diagnosed with acute leukemia.
Yu Lei tells the reporter that according to local doctors introduction and the initial diagnosis, the cure rate of Zheng Ping's disease is more than sixty percent and the treatment cost is around 400 thousand Yuan. Being helped by so many runners, Zheng Ping has already been in a regular hospital in Xiamen.
Because it is hard to have the cost of treatment immediately, Xiamen runners go to the internet for some help from other runners in China. About ten days after sending out this message, so many runners in eight cities come to help. Today, runners in eight cities which include Dalian, Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Yantai hold fund-raising activity by running. Yu Lei tells reporters that more than 160 Dalian runners as well as some enterprises have joined this fund-raising activity, among them there is a sports goods store selling sports goods in the value around ten thousand for charity, as well as a marketing director of a sea cucumber company promises to donate 100 Yuan as long as any runner runs for 10 kilometers.
Around ten o'clock yesterday morning, the running campaign began officially and more than 160 runner ran from Fu Jia Zhuang to North Bridge pulling banners blessing for Zheng Ping. Many visitors paid attention on this activity and donated for Zheng Ping. The activity ended in half past eleven yesterday morning. This reporter learned that the total money raised is up to 24,000 Yuan which includes 10,000 Yuan donated by the sea cucumber company because there were 100 runners totally finishing10 km and fund raised by runners there. Yu Lei says that the money will be sent to Zheng Ping as soon as possible and he wishes that the love from Dalian runners will love her to overcome the disease and get back to the running team soon.
