Drafted 155th overall by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round,Tracis Moen Articles Travis Moen never played for Calgary because Calgary never offered him a contract. He spent five years playing his junior years out with the Kelowna Rockets when he was finally signed by the BlackHawks in 2002. The 2002-2003 season was spent with Chicago's AHL affiliate team the Norfolk Admirals. In 2003-2004 Moen made the jump to the NHL and played all 82 games with the BlackHawks. During the lockout Moen played hockey for the Admirals once again.

During the off-season before the start of the 2005-2006 season Travis Moen was traded from the Hawks to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim for Mikael Holmqvist. Moen spent the next several years, from 2005 to 2009, grinding it out with the Ducks until he was traded to the Sharks along with Kent Huskins for Nick Bonino, Timo Pielmeier and a 4th round draft pick in 2011. Travis finished out his season with the Sharks and signed with the Canadiens in the 2009 off-season. Travis Moen is under a three year contract worth 1.5 million a season.

Moen is a pure big body grinder. Standing 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighing 215 pounds he throws his body into opponents unquestioningly. Travis Moen is occasionally placed on the top line with Gomez and Gionta to create some room for the two by throwing his big body around and making some noise. Although Moen is not expected to score goals he has a surprising goal scorers touch and pots key goals at key times.

Travis' strengths include his big body presence which is important to the Canadiens organization due to the lack of size on the Montreal Canadiens roster. Moen is a fighter and will stand up for his teammates. Travis Moen is a also an iron man who rarely misses games. Another key strength of Moen is his smart cycle play, when he gets possession of the puck on the boards he is smart with it and rarely turns it over. On top of all this Moen is a proven playoff performer and has a Stanley Cup to prove it.

Some of Travis Moen's cons include his lack of agility, he is not a slow skater but because of his large frame he has trouble shifting gears. Because Travis Moen has a grinder type role he is usually placed on the the 3rd and 4th lines which then lead to mismatches and pins in his defensive zone.

Moen scored the Stanley Cup winning goal with the Anaheim Ducks. He also appeared on the TV show Corner Gas in his hometown Sasketchewan. Travis Moen works on his family farm during the off-season in Stewart Valley Saskatchewan.
