A fiber cloth or soft brush is recommended for cleaning the lens, if the professional lens cleaning paper is not available. Using a paper towel or paper napkin for cleaning the lens is not recommended.

It should be kept away from direct sunlight and other high temperature areas as it may affect the circuit board. Water and other liquids must not be spilled on the camera as it will damage the functioning of the camera.

Avoid direct contact of the screen with your hands as it may result in improper display of the screen. You must remove the batteries from the camera when not in use for a long time. Batteries must always be stored in a dry place.

Proper care should also be taken while using the memory card in your digital camera. The memory card should be compatible with the memory slot in your camera as any mismatch will affect the results of the camera. An air balloon or a soft brush should be used for cleaning the memory cad slot of your camera.

When you connect your digital camera to your computer, you must take necessary precautions to ensure that no malicious programs or virus can harm your camera. While transferring files from camera to your computer, you should never disconnect in between as it may damage the memory of your camera.

All said and done you must ensure that your digital camera is kept away from the hands of novice. The camera should be taken periodically to the authorized service station for servicing which can increase the efficiency and longevity of the camera.
