If we don't want to live among them,Tenant Screening Is The Best Investment For Every Landlord Articles what would make us rent them our property? The answer is unfortunately very sad and simple - our unawareness. How can we know that the guy who is willing to lease our apartment is actually a drug dealer who will pay you with illegally earned money. If we don't have any paranormal abilities, we will just have to use a tenant screening service.

Although you should perform such checks on each prospective tenant, you shouldn't neglect the interview which can also tell you a lot about the person. The way he looks and acts can sometimes give us a complete image of the person's life. Although there won't be any criminal records on a certain tenant, you may notice that he came to the interview completely drunk. What is obvious, is that he may have a problem with drinking which is no good for you.
  1. He may lose his job anytime and he won't be able to pay the rent
  2. He won't take care of your property and may be throwing booze parties
So a sensible landlord should always combine the new technology which allow him to check somebody's criminal background as well as financial condition but should also conduct an interview to find out information that has not been written in any files but which are easily observed. From time to time you may stumble upon a situation when there are no records on the tenant and the interview goes well but you have a premonition. In such case you should ask your tenant for a phone number to his previous landlord and then contact him to learn some more details about the person. It's a normal procedure and the tenant shouldn't be reluctant if he has nothing to hide.
