The good points of the 2009 Jeep Patriot far outweigh the bad. The availability of awe inspiring off-road capabilities coupled with astounding cargo room top the list of functional features. The only negative is the acceleration capabilities, or lack thereof.

Careful examination of numerous reviews on the 2009 Jeep Patriot,Features You Never Imagined On The 2009 Jeep Patriot Articles lead me to the following conclusions. The Patriot will capture the attention of devoted Jeep enthusiasts due to its available off-road capabilities. The more than adequate cargo room is sure to meet the needs of a daily driver/off-road SUV. The acceleration is listed as a con in many of the reviews.

The Patriot styling, bulky and boxy, leaves no doubt that it is in fact a Jeep. Standard equipment includes the 172hp four cylinder engine, coupled with a five speed manual transmission. Drive train options come in the form of the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which on the FWD sport trim can be coupled to a modest 158hp 2. 0L engine.

Preference lets you choose between the front wheel drive system, or the optional four wheel drive system. The optional four wheel drive system includes a feature that is referred to as the "lock" mode. The lock mode is used to improve vehicle traction in poor driving conditions.

Features like hill descent control, locking differential, off-road mode which when activated engages low range in the continuously variable transmission, are included in the off-road package called the freedom drive off-road group. You also gain an extra inch of ground clearance when you add this package. Much of this equipment is not usually offered on SUV's of this price range.

The Patriot comes with a 9. 1 safety rating, and some pretty cool safety features. Let's start with the basic front and side curtain air bags, and then move on to the electronic stability program. As impressive as that is, you also get tire pressure monitoring and anti-lock brakes. Stability control is programmed to sense when the vehicles preset handling limits have been exceeded. At this point the system either decreases engine power or applies select brakes to aid the driver in maintaining control.

Some unique features that come in the 2009 Jeep Patriot are the overhead air bags. As you may assume, these are to protect the occupants head in the event of a side collision or roll over. The Patriot includes components that provide off-road capabilities unequalled by other SUV's in its class.

Interior upgrades to the instrument panel, door panels, and centre console along with features such as illuminated cup holders, add style and functionality. Add to that the navigation system complete with real time traffic updates and you have many reasons for choosing a 2009 Jeep Patriot.
