The usage of envelopes has increased and so have their types. The main purpose of an envelope is to secure a message/card/paper/money and seal it. The envelope protects the message and has space on it in which you can write the name and address of the receiver.


Envelopes are timeless and there are many types of envelopes available in the markets nowadays. Envelopes have been present as far as 15th century when kings used them to send messages across their kingdoms. Even then the use and importance of envelopes was realized. We will discuss some of the envelopes in this article.







The first type of envelope is known as “regular” envelope. This is a standard rectangular envelope that has a typical V shaped seal cut at the back. It is made from plain paper and can have varying colors – often red, blue, green and yellow. This type of printed envelopes is mainly used in mailing posts. Letters can be sealed in these envelopes and a stamp with address will send your message across any country through posts. Like said before, this is the most standardized of all envelopes.



The second type of envelope is called the “custom” type. This is not a standard envelope. It can have various shapes ranging from round to square shapes. Even the sizes of this kind of envelope vary a lot. For corporation sometimes, the envelopes used are large squared shape with a smart seal. This type of envelope does not require folding of the paper and can seal a whole document – often A4 size – completely. These envelopes are used in the business for exchanging important letters of confidentiality or often for exchanging contracts.



The third type of envelope is “cd envelopes”. Computer is a great invention and with it the CDs have become equally popular since they are used for storing the data from the computer. A CD is a delicate material which needs to be protected from scratches which can ruin it completely. For this purpose CD envelopes came into the market immediately. They are made from plain papers to plastics for better protection.  The cd envelope printing can also be done at home.



Printing and issuing envelopes have become quite a business nowadays. Many printing firms have opened up to supply the great demand of envelopes. Envelopes printing can be ordered on quite cheap rates from these firms.
