HTC are back with the release of another new Android smartphone. The HTC Wildfire boasts a number of similarities to its sister handsets the Desire and Legend.

These include the Android (v2.1) OS,The HTC Wildfire Is A Great Choice For Social Networkers Articles 5MP camera, and Wi-Fi among others; however the Wildfire is more compact and also sees the inclusion of FriendStream.

This is a social networking user interface which combines messages from all sources, and displays them on a single screen. This means all their posts, links, Tweets and messages can all be displayed on the same screen, via automatic updates. This makes it easy to stay up to date with your circle of friends with the minimum of fuss.

The appearance of the phone is distinctive when compared to others from the manufacturer. The edges of the HTC Wildfire are rounded, with a soft, curved finish, and the handset is finished in smooth “matt” coating, which is now available in a number of colours. The HTC Wildfire measures 106.8x 60.4x 12mm, making it compact, and it is also lightweight at 118 grams. HTC has also taken great care to make the casing as durable as possible, preventing potential damage when it is dropped, a scenario that many a smartphone user is all too familiar with.

Users of the HTC Wildfire have plenty of options when it comes to entertainment, with an array of multimedia features. An FM radio player offers live broadcasts of FM radio channels, and plenty of internal storage (along with expandable micro SD storage) means the phone can be loaded with an entire music collection with ease. The internal media player caters for a number of different music and video file formats, and a 3.5mm audio jack means users can listen to music with their headphones.

A 5 MP digital video camera shoots video footage as well as taking quality still images in a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels. A flash is provided with the camera, meaning that low lighting conditions need not pose a problem to taking photos. When users have taken their snapshots, they can then view them in all their glory on the generously proportioned 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen. When a user is at the homescreen, all they have to do is “pinch” the screen to reveal a series of thumbnails, which presents them with their home panels. All that is required from this point on is a tap on the desired thumbnail to select it.

A number of more subtle yet equally impressive features are also included with the HTC Wildfire. One of the more noteworthy is the “polite ringer” function. This automatically turns down the volume of the ringtone when the phone is picked up following a call. Also, should the user wish to not answer the phone, they can simply turn the phone over and the ringtone will be silenced.

All in all, the HTC Wildfire is one of those phones which impresses not just because of its aesthetics, but also because of the innovative features and the versatility provided by the downloadable apps in the Android Market.
