The Samsung S8500 Wave provides users with an extensive spec list encased within an extremely slimline handset. With aesthetic styling reminiscent of some of its previous slider handsets, it looks modern and funky with a great black colour scheme with silver trim.

Samsung has opted for the Bada OS in conjunction with a powerful 1 GHz ARM Cortex processor.  This combination provides an excellent user experience thanks to fast speeds and the application based TouchWiz user interface.

The dimensions of the handset are 118x 56x 10.9 mm making it relatively compact and one of the slimmest handsets around.  Its light weight of 118 g makes it easy to fit into a pocket or handbag whilst remaining extremely comfortable to use.

Featuring a 3.3 inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen,The Samsung Wave Provides A Versatile HD Video Camera Articles users can enjoy high quality display of photos and videos.  The screen can display up to 16M colours within its pixel resolution of 480x 800 pixels.  Additional features of the screen include an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the user interface, multi touch input method as well as handwriting recognition.

Users are alerted to incoming calls and messages thanks to a combination of vibration and ringing with the option to customise the sound of the phone off with the ability to assign MP3 music files as ringtones.  Hands free communication is made possible thanks to a built in speakerphone system as well as a 3.5 mm audio Jack which can accommodate both handsfree headsets as well as earphones for listening to music.

1.5 GB of internal storage is provided as standard, however expandable Media Storage is made available thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB.  This is capable of storing an entire digital music collection with a large number of videos and other data.

Class 10 GPRS and class 10 EDGE provide the Samsung Wave with access to cellular networks on the move.  In order to connect to the Internet, an HSDPA connection provides speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second) in areas covered by 3G.  A faster Internet connection is available however thanks to the inclusion of Wi-Fi Technology which utilises Wireless Networks where available for an enhanced browsing experience.  Additional connectivity features include micro USB and Bluetooth connections which allow the handset to connect to other devices in order to carry out a number of different tasks.

An impressive five mega pixel digital camera is provided and does a great job of taking high quality photos thanks to its high operating pixel resolution. A number of image enhancing features are included as standard such as Autofocus, LED flash, face, smile & blink detection as well as image stabilisation and touch focus.  The camera also has the ability to shoot HD (720p) quality video footage.

A long list of additional features is included such as a host of media goodies including a versatile media player, a number of pre-installed and downloadable games as well as a stereo FM radio player with RDS.  The manufacturer has hit the nail on the head with the Samsung S8500 Wave, a great looking handset which is capable of giving rival smart phones run for their money.
