Save the Date cards are no doubt one of the most popular forms of traditional correspondences sent to friends and loved ones weeks or months prior to the wedding date. Some people are even sending save the date cards just weeks after the engagement day or as soon as they have an idea on the official date of the "big day".

Save the date cards may not sound necessary, but they are usually cheaper than invitation cards and creates more anticipation for those who find your wedding an important event of the year. Giving out these cards will also remind people that you thought about them, and that you want them to be part of the few who are dear to you-- people you want to be present in this once-in-a-lifetime moment in your life as a couple.
