The most important thing when cleaning up a dog pee stain is to get as much of the urine out of the carpet as possible. Odor-fighting treatments and cleaning chemicals will not work if there's urine in your carpet, padding and flooring.

Sooner or later,Guide on Carpet Cleaning: Proper Dog Pee Clean Up Articles every dog owner has to deal with urine accidents in the house.Removing pet urine from you carpet can be an expensive proposition if you go the retail route. The combination of carpet and dog urine is quite smelly and unpleasant. But don't get horrified and alarmed, as you should possess the material for cleansing of your hands, once you become aware of the clean up process of dog urine.

Tips on How to Handle Dog Urine in Carpet

  • First, grab a bunch of paper towels and soak up as much of the urine as you can by blotting up the excess wetness. Always blot, never use a rubbing motion.
  • Try a mixture of dish and soap and water. Wet the area thoroughly and let it sit for about ten minutes before taking your handy paper towels and blotting again. Rinse the area with clean water to remove any residue soap and soak up the extra moisture before letting the carpet air dry thoroughly.
  • If there is any smell left after the area is completely dry, sprinkle some baking soda over your carpet and let it sit for about twenty minutes before vacuuming it up. There are a lot of 'pre-vacuuming odor reducing powders' that are being marketed for those with pets, but I have found that this method works just as well as, if not better than, its pricey alternative.

Special Considerations

  • Antiseptic should never be used, as it always has adverse reactions to the urine's ammonia and may also end up in leaving stains plus bad odor in your carpet.
  • ou should never use cleaner based on ammonia for the cleaning process, as the odor of ammonia act like a magnet for your pet dog and it may also urinate on same position.
  • The puddle should be sprayed with siphon soda or you can spray it on the affected area. Spot it with a neat and clean napkin or small towels, until dried out. Also shower baking soda on the same area and leave for at least twenty minutes, vacuum afterwards.
  • Additional technique is utilization of powder of soda bicarbonate; it should be showered on the urinated area. Once it is absorbed, sweep it nicely and soak as much as possible. Then the fitted carpet should be washed with a mixture of soda bicarbonate and Luke warm water. Let it dry entirely before vacuuming.
  • Also a mixture of similar amount of soda bicarbonate and corn flour should be used to eradicate the urine smell of your dog. Before going to sleep, sprinkle the mixture on affected area and the entire fitted carpet. It will assist in getting rid of smell successfully and will make your carpet smell fresh and clean.

Every carpet is different and just because it works well in one room of your home isn't a guarantee that it won't damage a different type of carpet that is laid in another room.

If you do not notice the mess until after it is well set into the carpet, you may never be able to rid yourself of the stain and/or smell completely. If you manage to clean up the surface of your carpet but still notice the rancid smell you can try to lift the carpet up and clean the sub flooring underneath with a mixture of dish soap and water. Make sure to clean the underside of the carpet where the animal has urinated as well.
