A survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) in 2017 on stress found symptoms of stress in 3 out of 4 people. (1)

Stress is a situation when you cannot deal with a situation or find it difficult to deal with it. In such a situation, the person is worried and many questions arise in his mind.

Stress dominates many times even when weight is increased. I am saying this to Personal Experience. Some time ago my weight was around 92 kg, every person I met would ask me to lose weight. Even after all my efforts, I was not losing weight.

 

At one time, I started getting very stressed about my health. I got out of stress by adopting some methods. Today I have reduced my weight along with relieving stress and I am fully fit.

If you too are under stress due to weight gain, then by reducing it, you can lose weight in a healthy way. Therefore, instead of taking tension, there is a need to do the right lifestyle, clean diet, and regular workouts.

How did I reduce the stress caused by weight gain and how did I stop growing weight? I am giving some tips about this, with the help of which you too can easily lose weight by relieving stress.

Think of the stress and weight gain as

A person feels more hungry in stress. In such a situation, he starts eating unhealthy food. This is often called emotional eating or stress eating.

Stress reduction will be needed to reduce the risk of weight gain and obesity. Life does not remain under its own control due to increasing stress.

Stress can also stop the process of weight loss. Whether this stress is a result of increased levels of cortisol hormone or the combination of Unhealthy Stress-Induced Behaviors or both.

 

Excessive stress can lead to problems such as headaches, muscle tension, digestive problems, sleep disturbances. A recent study has also shown that stress can lead to reduced metabolism. (2)

High levels of the stress hormone cortisol can increase weight and abdominal fat. Ohio State University study shows that stress causes fewer calories to burn.

Let us also know how to reduce stress due to weight gain.

  1. Recognize the symptoms of stress- 

    If stressed, if told to the person in front, then he will never believe that he is under stress. Similarly, if someone tells you, you will not believe it.

    Therefore, it is most important that you understand and recognize the signs of stress. Anxiety, Irritability, and Muscle Tension are some of the signs from which you can detect stress levels.

    If you feel the signs mentioned above or similar to them, then it is time to recover a bit. Otherwise, its level will increase gradually.

  2.  Ask yourself, why are you eating? (Ask Yourself, Why Eating)- 

    Studies show that a person's appetite increases during stress and he tends to eat more junk food, fried food. If this is the case with you, then you have to handle it.

    Whenever you feel like eating something, stop for 2 seconds and ask yourself the question, why are you eating? Are you really hungry or are you stressed and anxious?

    If your brain says that you are really hungry then you can eat. But if your heart says that you are not hungry, you want to eat in tension. So you control yourself.

  3. Encourage yourself to eat, then control yourself- 

    Seeing delicious dishes makes many people watery. I was also of the same kind. Therefore, it will be necessary if someone is eating delicious food in front of you, then you keep yourself busy or control your mind.

    You can use gaming, books, music, the internet, and friends, etc. to divert your mind.

  4. Record Eating Habits- 

    After all, do not skip taking regular miles. I have seen in some cases that people give up eating when they gain weight.

    Apart from this, keep a record of eating habits. This can help you see patterns and connections. With which you can easily prepare a strategy.

     

  5. Regular physical activity and exercise- 

    The last and most important way to reduce stress was that I started physical activity on a regular basis. I used to go to the gym, walk in the park in the evening, do yoga, and sometimes take dance classes.

    Due to this, my mood also remained good and calorie burning started reducing weight gradually. When I lost weight, my confidence level increased and I am very happy now.

Taking stress causes harm to your health. Therefore, do not stress increasing weight, work in a positive direction. You will definitely get results from this.

To reduce stress, go for a walk, go to the park, resort to friends, do yoga, spend time with family, listen to light music, and read a book.
