"Gurren Lagann" is a Japanese anime series that ran for twenty seven shows in 2007. "Gurren Lagann" is placed in the future,Gurren Lagann: Simon VS The Beastmen Articles an age when organic beings are pressured to move ever deeper subterranean to preserve themselves from ongoing tremors. Humans survive in isolated subterranean slums. 1e such place, Giha, is the home of Simon, a gifted young "miner" (person who works at the process of bringing the homes deeper downward) who is secluded with all of his peers. Simon meets another miner, a passionate, egotistical youth named Kamina, who yearns to ascend to the topside of the planet.

One day while working, Simon unearths a huge, strange face. Shortly thereafter, the community is raided by a mecha (a "mecha" is a class of large walking vehicle occasionally seen in science fiction movies and comics). Simon learns that, using a unique object he found earlier, he can control the huge face he discovered; in this method he destroys the robot and digs through to the top of the globle. Following him are Kamina and Yoko, a warrior he saw who bravely tried to vanquish the Beastmen. This, however, is only the start of the journey, which continues with the deeds of Simon, Kamina, and Yoko on the surface, where they run into a lot more villains.

"Gurren Lagann" also features a fascinating concept grounded upon "spirals" and "anti spirals" that adds a deeper dimension of cerebral depth to the awesome story.

"Gurren Lagann" has gone to several other media following its popularity, including 2 computer games, 2 animated OVAs, and a drawn comic series.
