Samsung has always been one of the leading manufactures when it comes to designing innovative and unique Blu-ray DVD Players. The highly stylized BD-D7500 player is no exception. Listed at just 28 mm (less than an inch) thick,
it claims to be the worlds thinnest model on the market. But like all Samsung players, it does not rely on looks alone; it has all the latest hi-tech advances such as 3D capability, 2D to 3D conversion, Wi-Fi, DLNA and much more. Not to mention a higher price tag than most Blu-ray DVD Players.
Most of this extra cost can be found in the styling of the BD-D7500. It does pose an attractive silhouette with its Samsung's 3S design concept (slim, symmetrical and slot in). The player itself is coated with an aluminum finish giving it a hi-tech feel and can be mounted to a wall or fitted onto a semi vertical stand. Because of the design and the fact the disc loading tray is located on the right side of the player, the BD-D7500 is not well suited to being placed into a cabinet. Besides, with its touch senor controls and integrated blue lighting effect the BD-D7500 will be a stand out in anyone's home theater and therefore needs to be placed where it can be noticed.
VIDEO QUALITY: Picture quality on the BD-D7500 player is extremely good, for both 3D images and stand 2D blu-ray images. Images are brought to the screen in a brilliantly displayed of vivid and crystal clear quality. Disc loading speeds are fast and the BD-D7500 will up-convert your old DVDs to near HD levels. The up-conversion of DVDs has greatly improved over past Samsung players, but it is still not as good as some of the higher-end players or even Sony's PlayStation 3. The player can even take standard 2D images and convert them to 3D. However, the quality of these images will vary greatly, depending on the source material.
AUDIO QUALITY: The BD-D7500 is capable of Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS, DTS-HD HRA and DTS-HD Master Audio with support for 7.1 channels via the HDMI output. Delivering you with sharp, crisps surround sounds perfect for any type of movie you are watching.
Because of the slim design of the BD-D7500, there are not many connectivity options. There is the HDMI Output, two channel Audio Output, an Optical Digital Audio Output and one USB 2.0 port located on the left side. However, when connecting to the internet it does provide us with a wireless connection option. Easily making available Samsung's Smart Hub and access to DLNA devices. It also supports Samsung's "one foot connection". This allows the BD-D7500 player to connect to your router by placing it within one foot during the setup. Once connected you can take the player anywhere.
Samsung's Smart Hub will transform your television into a web-enabled device which allows you to watch movies, TV shows, listen to music, view pictures and much more. It has over 200 apps to choose from including Hulu Plus, Netflix, Blockbuster, YouTube, Pandora, Twitter and Facebook. It has a unique search feature for you to find videos and files, as well as access connected DLNA devices like your computer. With this AllShare feature you can view movies, videos, pictures or listen to music found on your computer. It also has a Your Video recommendation feature which suggest movies you might want to watch based on your streaming habits.
Other useful features include an enhanced graphic user interface and USB play back of multimedia files like WMA, AVI, MP3, JPEG, DivX HD, MKV and MP4. Unlike many players, the BD-D7500 has 1 GB of local storage for downloading any BD-Live content locate on certain Blu-ray discs. So there is no need for using an external USB flash drive, unless you want more storage space.
