The reasons as well as the after effects of the act of abortion have changed. It was introduced in order to serve as a birth control and population control measure,Abortion - Latest Trends Articles however, today it is more about correcting the 'what went wrong' scenarios.

Aborting a baby was considered a big act then which today holds no relevance of great regret. From the methods of the abortion to the time taken and the consequences of the abortions - everything has changed today.

The number of uninvited pregnancies has been on an upward trend and this has led to an increased number of abortions, especially in teens. Few of the countries especially the USA has been witnessing the abortion rates going up to as much as 3000 abortions per day.

However, there are certain countries where people do understand the significance of having a small family. Thus, taking the necessary protection is considered important. Modern contraceptives have been on the rise. These can help keep the rate of abortions at bay - provided they work full proof. There are a lot of times that contraceptives fail. Two-thirds of the countries in the world have most of their abortions due to the contraceptive protection failure.

However, this can get worse too. In today's learned world, women do not use contraceptives despite the fact that they do not want any more children. And abortions continue to take place. Facts have shown that there is a negative correlation between modern contraceptive methods and abortion whereas a higher positive correlation between abortion and traditional contraceptive methods.

The number of abortions that take place today are mainly in those women who are not married. Abortions may also lead to future complications. These could mean complications in the pregnancy when they actually plan to have a baby then.

If there are better chances of women who use modern contraceptives to replace those with the traditional methods, abortions would reduce by a good 25 percent. If women realize that protection is necessary, since they are not inclined towards family planning; then it would make another 25 percent of a difference to help bring down the abortion rates.
