This gel cleanser is ph balanced to your skin, keeping your acid mantle protected and it’s also soap-free, so you won’t experience that tight feeling what many soap users experience. You may think this cleanser is expensive, but what you may not know is this dermalogica cleanser is highly concentrated, making it last longer than supermarket brands, but you need to know how to use it, so you get the very best outcome for your skin. You need to use this cleanser in the right way to get great skin results, remember this cleanser cleanses your skin, don’t be fooled into thinking it will miraculously change your skin.

Special Cleansing Gel Ingredients

You will notice when using this cleanser that it foams up really well. An ingredient called quillaja saponaria, is the natural foaming extract that produces all the bubbles in the cleanser. This action cleans your skin, while protecting the skin from being over stripped, but leaves your skin feeling wonderfully revitalised and fresh. When looking at this cleansers formulation, I found that it is made in a Balm Mint base. Balm Mint is used a lot in the dermalogica products simply because it does have a lot of good properties. It can promote wound healing in the skin and also purify the skin (that’s why it is in this cleanser) and soothe it.

Lavender extract is added to this cleanser to help with the cleansing properties and also calm and purify the skin. The ingredients work together providing a superior cleanse and at the same time making sure your skin barrier is intact and not overly drying it.

Make Sure You Follow This Technique When Washing Your Skin With This Dermalogica Cleanser Avoid over drying out your skin by making sure you follow the cleansing instructions in the true manner. Don't use too much of this cleanser, becuase of the high concentration. A five cent size is all you need to adequately cleanse your skin.

To wash your skin correctly foam up this cleanser by dispersing a small amount into wet hands and combining water until the cleanser resembles a froth-like consistency. The more foams and bubbles the better, this reactivates the cleanser and this is the way you should use it to wash your face.

Follow the steps above, if you choose to use special cleansing gel as a gel on your face, you run the risk of drying out your skin, with a highly concentrated solution. Tight, dry skin after washing your face is a sign that you have not foamed up the cleanser correctly or have been over-zealous with the amount. You may also be better with a gel-cream combination skin if your skin is dehydrated; dermalogica’s ultra calming cleanser is also a good cleanser.

Making sure the skin’s protective acid mantle is still maintained is vital. The dermalogica cleansers are all ph balanced to the skin, to make sure this does not happen. Cleansing your skin with precleanse first gives your skin a better level of clean, it helps to remove sunscreens and thick make up and special cleansing gel, works even better at cleaning your skin. An insufficient cleanse will show up in your skin in the way of a dull complexion and more breakouts!

You can add skin prep scrub in with special cleansing gel which gives you a two in one cleanser/exfoliant, leaving your skin really smooth and really clean.

Cleansing Your Skin is great – But it’s not enough in The Battle of Breakouts Acne can only get better by exfoliating, reducing the bacteria and oil-flow, just cleansing your skin does not treat these causes.

Some people are lucky and do, maybe because they were not cleansing properly to begin with, but I can assure you that if you think just buying a cleanser is going to get rid of your breakouts, then think again, they won’t.

You can read my other articles to know more about how to reduce your breakouts, but for now know that you need to have a basic skin care routine in place such as using special cleansing gel, exfoliating and using an oil free moisturiser.
