Intelligent dimmable LED driver is a power supply that has dimming function for LED lighting, and unlike normal power supply, it is designed with intelligent control interface such as DALI, DMX, RF and WiFi etc. This type of LED power supply is the perfect solution for smart home and building automation which are the popular trend around the world.

LED driver is the power supply for LED lighting,Intelligent Dimmable LED Driver and Power Supply For Smart Lighting Control Articles and it converts AC input voltage to DC output voltage to power the connected lights. The DC output can be either constant voltage or constant current depending on the light type. The intelligent dimming interface means that they can be controlled smartly. For instance, DALI and DMX, which are both addressable and support group and scene control.

In a DALI or DMX system, the dimmable LED driver is a slave controller, you will need a master controller to output the digital signal to the driver. Each system is capable of addressing multiple drivers individually or synchronously. Or they can also be configured to a group with the master. Then multiple drivers can be controlled together. RF and WiFi means that the master transmit signal wirelessly to the slave, you only have to pair the drivers with a master controller, each master can pair with multiple drivers, which greatly increases control flexibility and reduces installation costs and time.

When choosing a dimmable LED driver, you have to know some important tips on how to choose a good one.

Power factor and efficiency is the parameter that describes useful power the driver does and how energy efficient the driver is. Generally the driver with higher power factor and efficiency will be better. You can consult your supplier about the parameter.

A good dimmable driver shall have no flickering and noise. If the connected LED light flickers when it is dimmed, the human being eyes may be hurt. Meanwhile, if it has noise when working, the environment can also be polluted. The reason that causes the noise can be high ripple current or PWM frequency.

Standby power consumption is also important for dimmable LED driver. If a big lighting project adopts thousands of drivers, it will require low standby power consumption of each driver, so that the total standby power will be low. Generally, a dimmable driver with a standby power less than 1w is a good one.
