It doesn't matter what the reason is, whether it's reconstructive or cosmetic, you are about to make a change that will not only change your outlook on life but will change your life forever. You are undergoing breast augmentation surgery. As you're driving towards the hospital, you realize you haven't made any preparations for recovery. No one is coming to drive you home. In all the excitement, you completely forgot. Well, there is no cause for worry. Get out your cell phone and follow these simple guidelines to ensure a complete recovery. Make sure that you find someone to come pick you up and plan to stay with you for the next 48 to 72 hours. It can be your mom, an aunt, a good friend, or your niece, but you need someone to feed any pets and do all the things you won't be able to do for the next few days. You're also going to want to have reasonable expectations. Your new breasts won't look the way you want them to right away. There's going to be some swelling and other effects before you achieve the look that led you to surgery in the first place. If you do have some time before your surgery, try prepping for the size you're going to be afterwards. Take a trip to your local shopping center and purchase a few large bras that are the cup size you're going for, if you're enlarging your breasts. Don't buy the ones with padding, but rather pad them yourself. If you have time before you head to the hospital, wear them around the house and see if that's the size that works for you. You may realize that you'd like to go even bigger or that they size is just a bit too heavy for you. Along with buying a "test" bra, try sleeping on your back for a few nights beforehand, especially if you're used to sleeping on your stomach. You're going to need to get used to the change. During your recovery, you're not going to be able to sleep on your stomach, as your breasts will still be tender and it will hurt. The morning of your procedure, you should consider your wardrobe. It's a good idea to wear loose-fitting clothes that won't put added pressure on your sensitive areas post-op. A button-up or zip-up top is a good idea, as it will be easy to get off. Slip-on shoes are also a good idea, as they won't be too hard to get on and off. If you adhere to these guidelines, your breast augmentation surgery will be a pleasant one and you will be well on your way to the breasts you've dreamed of.
