The measure of God's longing to be with his created humans is beyond imaginations. Why not then we stay close to him and let him bring forth the plans he has for us. (Read this article with illustrative imagery and attractive presentation Here)

"Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God,Do not Forget your very own God Articles failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery."

My Bible has a little commentary on it:

"How do you feel when someone compliments
you for something you didn't do?
How do you respond?
Do you take credit yourself?
Or do you pass it along to the people who
really deserve it?
Do you ever give God credit for your talents and abilities?
Do you believe he deserves credit for them?
Do yourself a favor --Never fall into the trap of
believing your own hype."

It is pretty common for us (including me), that we forget our ver own GOD in times of merry making. When the people of Israel were in Egypt, they were desperately waiting for the one who would save them from their slavery and deliver them to the promised land. They had to make bricks all day, some were engaged in building monuments for the Pharoah. They were treated like worms by the Egyptians, killed, persecuted and mocked at will. And when the work was over, they had to return in their uncomfortable homes in Goshen (Which eventually became the only protected place when plagues struck).
And the day Moses delivered them out of Egypt, they were the happiest people on the whole planet. Singing and rejoicing, praising God.
No sooner they land up cursing him when they were wandering in the desert.
They cursed the one who fed them [manna]. And I wonder how would God have resisted not burning them all up.
When the going was good, they were the good boys and girls.
When the going got tough, they were faithless and caught in slander.

Remember that verse from 1 Kings 19:11
It said:
"A great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind..
After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
and then came a gentle whisper."

This verse has a lot more meaning, but let just look at a rough picture. God had the whole universe at his disposal, but he didn't dwell in it. He chose man's heart to be his home. And we being godless and faithless in our ways, strip him off his dwelling. He gave up his everything for us, including his life. He lived a life of poverty, worked carpentry, wandered on foot, healing the sick, feeding thousands, only because so that we could get an eternal dwelling in Heaven WITH HIM.
We give him pain, by not returning from our evil ways. He says that his pain is like of a woman in Childbirth. God has feelings for us friends, we only need to realize that.

By now, you must be thinking that I am accusing the human race..
It is not blaming. Its time that we see that we re not going the right way, and that too does not apply on each one us. If you are dwindling on the path, ask God, he'll give you his infinite strength and even if everything fails, we have already seen that he jumps right into the scene as he did 2000 years ago. A footprint message i recall, My beloved aunt told me about it... also my principal at school.

In the deepest sleep one night I dreamed
that on the beach I walked.
God was by my side each step,
and quietly we talked.
Then on the sky my life was flashed,
the visions all serene.
Two sets of footprints in the sand,
were there in every scene.
But then I noticed in some scenes,
of suffering,pain,and strife......
Just a single set of footprints,
at the worst times of my life.
"God....you said you'd stay by me-
in good times and in bad....
Why then did you leave me-
each time my life was sad?"
"My precious child," God answered,
"When your life had pain, I knew,
The single set of footprints,
were the times I carried you."

Remember Friends, He is a God who Deserves our love, our creator in heaven, deserves all the worth and praise.
