Why You Need Backup Software

No matter how big your company is or how much data you are currently holding, if you don’t have backup software installed, in use, and constantly being tested, then you are opening yourself up for a lot of problems. This type of software exists for a reason – because accidents do happen – and if you don’t have it running, an accident will most certainly happen to you and your company.

Whether you are the owner of your own firm or the person whose job it is to choose and install the backup software, you should know what a huge responsibility it is to make the right decision. If you have ever had to start from scratch after a hard drive failed, then you know the pain and the cost of losing data. And, when you multiply that by dozens or even hundreds of users, and all of your customers, then you can see what could wrong if you don’t have a reliable backup.

Although computers are designed not to fail, they do, and for various reasons. There may be an electrical issue either outside of or inside of your building. There could be some sort of accident such as a flood or natural disaster. Perhaps the worst kind of failure is man-made, by someone who has an axe to grind. When you lose your data because someone intentionally set out to destroy it, then having backup software that backs up to an off-site source is essential.

If you don’t think that any of these things could ever happen to your server, then think again. It happens every day, and that is one reason why there are so many good backup programs available. You just never know when you will need one, and that is exactly why you should have your software installed and tested as soon as possible.
