In most vampire fiction,Blues-drenched vampire fiction with thrills, chills, and lots of laughs! Articles the characters are so wrapped up in BEING a vampire – and the inherent problems thereof – that you’re constantly getting clubbed over the head with it.  It feels like vampires never get to spread their wings and just get into fun adventures!

Now, while I completely agree being a vampire redefines your whole existence, but seriously, come on…

There’s more to being a vampire than BEING A VAMPIRE!

Don’t think I’m against it – some truly phenomenal vampire fiction has come from that old tradition… Interview With The Vampire is still a wonderful book three decades in!  But if you’re like me…

You’ve had your fill of traditional vampire fiction.  You want stories where vampires have moved past the difficulties of being a vampire and have embraced it.  Vampires who are strong, confident, in step with the times, and even… funny.

You’re in luck…

Traditional vampire fiction rules are tossed off the train in “The Ballad Of Thomas Brown,” a tense, thought-provoking, and totally HILARIOUS adventure!

You’ll journey to Seward County, Mississippi back in the 1960’s, where Tom Brown – a mysterious traveling bluesman – finds himself at odds with knuckle-dragging good ‘ol boy Mort and his band of morons in story unlike any other vampire fiction out there.

You see, Tom’s passing through Seward to play his battered old guitar for local folks and make some money in the process.  He just wants to play some blues, drink his strawberry wine, and go about his business.

But all Mort can see is the color of Tom’s skin.

In addition, Mort just got a ticket for playing mailbox baseball out on Reeker Road, and he’s thinking he’ll be able to pay it off if he steals Tom’s hard-earned cash.  Say hello to your villain, guys!

However, ‘ol Tom’s not helpless, and handles himself quite well when the chips are down.  But just as Tom has his secrets, Mort’s got his own – one even he doesn’t know about – and when the sun goes down on a hot summer night, things are gonna get ugly.

Fortunately, Tom’s got angels on his side – angels in the form of an all-vampiress biker gang known as the Sisters of Fury.  Including the Hollywood Vampires Brandi and Clarisse, the Sisters are just a bit different from classic fanged fiends in vampire fiction…

For one, they’re not fiends.  They’re at peace with their vampirism, and don’t obsess about the whole blood-drinking thing.  They’re vampires – and they’re over it.  The Sisters are much more like you and I – they just want to have a good time and enjoy their lives.

That, and the Sisters’ resident powerhouse – 6’4” Brandi – LOVES a good fight.  She also hates racist, sexist good ‘ol boys.  Hmm…

Sounds like trouble brewin’ to me.

As the steamy Mississippi night draws you in like a hot-blooded lover, these combustible elements are thrown together in a wild, crazy clash that’ll make your heart pound, your blood race, and tickle your funny bone all at the same time!

You’re getting vampire fiction without all of the usual conventions – “The Ballad Of Thomas Brown” is about the adventures vampires stumble into in a world where supernatural beings can be found everywhere.

Instead of hearing about how rough it is to be a vampire – yet again – you’ll be intrigued by…

·         The nature of ‘ol Tom Brown himself – who and what is he? And just what’s in that deliciously strong strawberry wine of his? Or you’ll find yourself…

·         Howling with laughter at Mort’s idiotic attempts at getting to Tom – at least until the sun goes down and Mort’s own hellish secret emerges. The tension will be just as tight then as it is when…

·         Mort’s buddy Clem goes after ‘ol Tom down by the river – and meets his fate in a chilling manner beneath the hot summer sun.

When you meet the Sisters of Fury, you’ll be even further intrigued.  These vampires are just as human as you and I, with motivations and feelings you’ll understand – even relate to.  This is because…

When it comes right down to it, vampires are just as human as we are.  They’re just… different.

When vampire fiction moves past merely BEING a vampire, you’ll be amazed at how many possibilities for great storytelling there are, both dramatic AND comedic!

Come take a trip down to hot, steamy Seward County, Mississippi and unravel the mystery of Mr. Thomas Brown, player of the blues and maker of strawberry wine – you’ll thrill to this totally difference experience in vampire fiction!

You’ll ONLY find “The Ballad of Thomas Brown” in Love, Red Wine, & Magick.  It’s alongside another exclusive tale of unusual vampire fiction – a story of love, Lovecraftian horror, and vampiric mayhem in the deepest swamps of Louisiana.
