Constructing home is not an easy job. There are a lot of things to be taken care of,A house is incomplete without the Baseboards Articles and proper guidelines are required. But setting up home is even more difficult. The styling, designing and setting is far more difficult. The entire look of the house changes with the finishing. One important part of finishing is installing the baseboards.
A baseboard is a board covering which is used to cover the joint between the floor and the wall surface. There are a lot of names for baseboards. It is also called mopboard, skirting board, base molding, skirting etc. the baseboards are usually made of wood or tiles. Basically Baseboards cover the lowest parts of an interior wall. So the main purpose of a baseboard is to keep the wall protected from abrasion, kicks, and furniture scratches. A baseboard not only covers the uneven edge of the flooring next to wall but also serves as a decorative molding. Setting baseboards is extremely easy; they can be installed using nails or can be screwed up. They can even be glued to the wall.
There are a few things which should be kept in mind while buying baseboards. There are three basic types of baseboards and each type is used in a different situation. So one should always buy the baseboard which suites his needs the best. The first type is the pine or oak. These are nice one-piece solid wood trim lengths. The second type is the finger jointed wood construct type. They are cheaper than oaks and pines. And the third type is the MDF fibre board baseboard.
The first type is the most attractive as it looks neat and nice. It is meant for stained or clear coat finishes. But this solid wood one-piece baseboard is extremely expensive. The second type is basically made up by finely putting together pieces and scraps of wood and the end product is a solid baseboard piece. They are cheap and can be painted as well as the design on these baseboards is not that attractive. The third type is the medium density fibreboard type. Its price is comparable with the second type. This is made up of sawdust and is the only kind of baseboards which comes with a white primer painted on its surface and is ready for paint.
So if the customer knows the difference between the types, it becomes easy for him to shop. He can easily select the right type which will serve his need and get over with the skirting soon. Without proper information and knowledge, people usually buy the wrong type and then they have to go back to the hardware store and get it changed.
